Lucky delegate will ring JSE-bell to open the inaugural Business Day Investor Relations conference

The organisers of the first Business Day Investor Relations & Strategic Communications Conference have announced that a conference delegate will be randomly selected to kick-start the event by ringing the bell of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and open trading for the day. The conference, aimed at the finance and investment community, will take place at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) on 12 May 2016.

“This is the first year that Business Day, in association with Tiso Blackstar and Greymatter & Finch, is bringing a conference of this nature to the finance and investment community,” says Trevor Ormerod, GM Group Sales & Marketing at Times Media. “The aim of the event is to engage executives with strategic management responsibilities about the requirements for achieving a fair company valuation, by sharing the experience of experts and business leaders – especially at a time when we’re in economic flux, with elections looming.”

The conference line-up includes:

Discovery Group CEO, Adrian Gore and Financial Director and Chief Financial Officer, Richard Farber will discuss their relationship with the investment community in conversation with Jeremy Maggs

Stewart Bailey, Senior Vice President Investor Relations & Corporate Communications, AngloGold Ashanti will be sharing his insights on adapting

Investor Relations programmes in the midst of macro-economic uncertainty.

Shareholder activism and the threat it poses in the South African context will be discussed with Theo Botha

What Investment Relations Officers should expect in 2016, in the face of the impending elections and the various outcome that can be expected, will be discussed with Howard Penny, Equity Sales and Equity Research Analyst from RMB Morgan Stanley and Kim Bromfield, Senior Executive: Corporate and Public Sector Reporting at SAICA

Peter Bruce, Editor-in-Chief, BDFM Publishers, looks at factors that could affect South Africans in the medium term in his presentation ‘My perfect South Africa’

The lucky conference delegate will be notified before 11 May of the bell-ringing honour.
