Merc's living wall comes alive

With its “living wall” green wrap at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, Mercedes-Benz introduces the latest M-Class – the most fuel efficient SUV in its class – in a unique and environmentally friendly space.

“Our aim is to create awareness of the substantially reduced fuel consumption and minimal emissions from our latest SUV M-Class range in a manner that is not only kind to the environment,  but also to remind us where we stand within Nature’s broader realm,” says Claudia Mende, Marketing Manager of Mercedes-Benz South Africa.

“As well as exposing a number of our BlueEFFICIENCY models to passersby, the previous wrap showcased the Mercedes-Benz C-Class BlueEFFICIENCY model range, and now this wrap has been recycled into re-useable bags.

“Our customers want safe, comfortable and powerful vehicles that are also extremely efficient and environmentally friendly. The environmental sustainability of vehicles is gaining importance in our customers’ purchasing decision, and we wanted to advertise our products through an innovative and fresh medium that can also be environmentally compatible and the 'living wall' provides this opportunity,” says Mende.

When it comes to fuel consumption the latest diesel technology is currently the best option for large sedans and SUVs such as the M-Class range. Mercedes-Benz SUVs have followed suit and are equipped with the world’s cleanest diesel technology.

Locally diesel with 50 parts per million (ppm) has been more readily available throughout the country, and this is necessary for the M-Class diesel models -the most fuel efficient SUV in its class.

Safety

“Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to unique advertising and we are pleased to say over the last year we have received recognition for our BlueEFFICIENCY billboard which cleverly shows a clean space on the board and then with growing emissions the space becomes darker.

"We have now been awarded a top spot in the Top 10 Brand Awards for a billboard showcasing the 'Mercedes-Benz Blind Spot Assist' assistance safety feature, we are demonstrating how seriously we take the medium of advertising responsibly,” concludes Mende.
