International academics host SA seminar
Positioning South African companies to compete effectively on a global stage is a very complex undertaking and businesses need to possess very definite characteristics in order to be successful in an increasingly competitive environment.
Local business owners and decision makers of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as large corporates, are urged to review their approach to establishing and growing their business beyond traditional markets.
This is according to Marietjie Wepener, deputy director of the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), who says that key findings and issues related to business positioning and expansion into Africa and internationally will be discussed in detail on 17 and 18 November 2011 at a seminar hosted by the USB in Cape Town, entitled Business Beyond Borders.
“The seminar aims to equip established, as well as up and coming leaders with an understanding of the issues which are particularly relevant in today’s competitive and volatile global economy,” says Wepener.
The conference will feature academic and business experts from South Africa, Belgium, France, Canada and Norway who will discuss a range of topics including, among others, entry into African markets, entrepreneurship, internet marketing, global business strategies, cross-border mergers and acquisition and how to ‘internationalise’ SMEs.
The two-day workshop is open to the public and is primarily aimed at managers, business owners across all industries, corporate strategists, consultants, SMEs and entrepreneurs.
